Five Fast Facts About General Hospital Star Kin Shriner

Kin Shriner is best known for playing Scott Baldwin on General Hospital, but the actor has appeared on other soaps over the years, including The Bold and the Beautiful, Port Charles, As the World Turns, The Young and the Restless, and Rituals.

Along with his soap career, Shriner has appeared on other shows such as Melrose Place, Full House, and The Love Boat. From where he was born and raised to his recent surgery, here are five fast facts about the General Hospital actor!

In The Beginning
Shriner was born on December 6 in New York City. He is eight minutes older than his twin brother, Wil Shriner. His parents, Pixie McDermott and humorist Herb Shriner, tragically passed away in a car accident when they were teenagers. The twins went to live with their grandmother in Texas.

Mr. Clean
Prior to pursuing his dream of becoming an actor, Shriner knew he needed to find a job that paid the bills. He ended up working for Fuller Brush, which is a company that sells household cleaning products, as a door-to-door salesman.

Under Contract
Once he decided to pursue acting full-time, Shriner moved to Los Angeles to make his dream a reality. Before he got his role on GH, Shriner was under contract at Universal Studios. They paid him a weekly salary and put him wherever he was needed. Because of this, he got to work with legendary actors like Gregory Peck and his idol, Raymond Burr.

New Launch
After Shriner left his role on GH, he headlined a new soap called Texas, playing Jeb Hampton. However, he was only on that show for one year before he realized where he truly belonged and returned to GH.

Time to Scoot
Fans noticed that Scott Baldwin appeared on screen over the summer with a knee scooter. When asked about it, Shriner revealed he was recovering from four-hour foot surgery. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
