Kimberly McCullough is best known for playing Robin Scorpio on General Hospital, but the two-time Daytime Emmy-winning actress has also played Robin on other shows as well, including All My Children, Port Charles, and GH: Night Shift.
She’s also appeared on other television shows like ER, Party of Five, Judging Amy, and recurring roles on The Shield, Joan of Arcadia, and Once and Again. From her General Hospital audition to her high-profile romance, here are five fast facts about the actress.
In The Beginning
McCullough was born on March 5 in Bellflower, California as the youngest of three siblings. She started acting at seven months when she was cast in a diaper commercial opposite future Passions star, Juliet Mills. Her mother, a dance instructor, initially got her into dance performing on shows like Fame and Solid Gold as well as the film Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo.
Twelfth Time’s the Charm
McCullough got the role of Robin Scorpio on GH when she was just 7 years old, but it wasn’t easy. In fact, McCullough had to go through 12 auditions in order to get the part. But, Robin is one of the only soap characters to be played by the same actor from childhood into adulthood.
Being Direct
McCullough has been concentrating on her directing career of late, working on such high profile sitcoms like The Connors, One Day At a Time, and Fuller House as well as the dramatic series Pretty Little Liars. She developed her eye for directing while working on GH.
What, Like It’s Hard?
Along with her work on television, McCullough has also appeared in films. In fact, she played Amy — one of Elle Woods’s college friends — in the hit movie Legally Blonde back in 2001.
Getting Personal
When she was just a teenager, McCullough dated actor Freddie Prinze Jr. for many years, right before he eventually met and married his current wife, Sarah Michelle Gellar (ex-Kendall, All My Children). McCullough welcomed her first child, son Otis, in 2017 with her current boyfriend. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
