Marcus Coloma certainly made quite the splash late last year with his debut as Nikolas Cassadine on General Hosptial – making him the fifth actor to embody the role of the complicated Prince.
Along with his work on the lone ABC sudser, Coloma has also appeared in a number of primetime programs including Point Pleasant, One Tree Hill, and Make It or Break It. From his early days to his incredible voice, here are five fast facts about the actor.
Who Is Marcus Coloma?
Born in Middletown, California, Coloma – who is of Italian and Hawaiian descent – began his performing career with an appearance on the MTV telenovela Undressed. In 2006, he appeared in his first feature film – Material Girl – opposite former Disney Channel star Hilary Duff.
Music Man
Aside from his myriad of acting credits, which include South Beach, Major Crimes, and CSI, Coloma is also a musician/singer/songwriter. He’s a dab hand at playing the guitar and he currently has one CD available for purchase which is entitled On The Bright Side.
Marcus Coloma: A Studious Performer
Though Coloma had never seen an episode of General Hospital prior to his hiring, his mother was a huge fan of the soap and especially of its most popular supercouple, Luke and Laura.
In order to immerse himself in the world he was about to visit, Coloma spent hours researching the Cassadines and watching old clips in which the family was featured.
New Face, Same Character
Despite being new to the world of daytime dramas, Coloma has some experience picking up a part from where another actor left off. In 2011, he was asked to replace Manolo Cardona as Sam Cortez in the Disney film Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2.
Sounds Familiar
In 2007, Coloma recorded dialogue for the first-person shooter game Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. After such a positive experience, he jumped at the chance to do the same for Command & Conquer 3: Kane’s Wrath a year later. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC.
