In the 1990s General Hospital was praised for having one of the greatest teen scenes in all of soapdom. One of the show’s bright stars was Jonathan Jackson who played Luke and Laura’s streetwise rascal son Lucky. (Or, Lucas Lorenzo Spencer Jr. if your feeling fancy.)

He was certainly a chip of the ole block possessing both his daddy’s edgy wildness and his momma’s kind, nurturing spirit.

For most of the decade, Lucky remained front and center thrust into numerous high profile storylines including a much-beloved coupling with Rebecca Herbst’s Elizabeth Webber. Their romance and Lucky’s stature as a legacy child built a solid foundation for the young character.

However, as the millennium approached new writers took Lucky in surprising (and not always popular) directions and the role was recast twice. Jackson returned in 2009 for several years, and made a brief appearance in 2015. The character hasn’t been seen since then.

But should that fact be remedied? Soap Hub asked fans if they would like to see Lucky return to GH and more importantly, would they accept a recast seeing as how Jackson has no interest in a return appearance. Here’s how over 5,000 voted:

Bring Him Home
A full 66% of you who said you’d welcome a new look Lucky with open arms. After all, it wouldn’t be the first time the dude showed up with a new face. Jacob Young played the part for two and half years and then Greg Vaughan stepped in for six more.

And many of you say it’s high time Lucky showed up for his family. When his half-brother Nikolas took a header out of a window Lucky couldn’t even be bothered to show up to lend his mom some support. And now that his sister is facing a life without her beloved husband she needs a big brother to lean on. And let’s not forget that Aiden is HIS son.

And there’s a few of you holding out hope that he could come back and stake a claim for his former lady love. After all Elizabeth and her new hubby Franco have been married for a few months now so it’s time for some drama — who better to deliver it than an ex-husband?

Stay Away
Still, there’s 33% f you who would rather the character stay off-screen. For you the only Lucky is a Jonathan Jackson Lucky. And the proof is in the pudding. The last time Lucky was recast the writers made mistake after mistake.

Lucky never would have joined the police force nor would he succumbed to drug addiction and cheat on his beloved Liz with Maxie. In your opinion, it’s just better to let sleeping dogs lie. General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local lisitngs for airtimes.
