General Hospital (GH) fans were blindsided recently by the news that Robert Palmer Watkins has been left go from the role of Dillon Quartermaine that he’s played since 2015.
Did the show make the right call in releasing Watkins? Almost 3,000 fans let their feelings be known!
Stay Home!
We are running pretty low on Quartermaines these days. Edward and Lila are dead. So is Alan. So is AJ. So is Emily. Monica (Leslie Charleson) is… somewhere.
Tracy (Jane Elliot) is somewhere… with Luke (maybe; though maybe his weird-looking hair scared her off). Jason (Billy Miller) has never really returned to the fold — and Steve Burton’s return isn’t likely to make that more likely.
Michael (Chad Duell) is still more Corinthos than Quartermaine. Ned and Brook Lynn are MIA. So it’s not like we have any to spare, and 86% of you need Dillon — and Robert Palmer Watkins — to remain in Port Charles.
Whateves
Then again, it’s not like Dillon has had much to do since he returned to town. There was the ill-advised flirtation with Lulu (Emme Rylan), that led to all sorts of nonsense between her and Dante (Dominic Zamprogna).
There was his aborted and/or stalled movie career. And then the barely-shown romance with Kiki (Hayley Erin) after Morgan (Bryan Craig) died.
Which is why 10% of you can take him or leave him. Doesn’t matter much either way.
Don’t Let The Door Hit You!
Is Dillon still on, wonder only 3% of fans? To you he’s a snooze and a waste of airtime. His whole family has already taken off, and he should join them. Plus, it will free Kiki to hang out with someone more interesting.
It’s not enough just to be a Quartermaine. You have to be an interesting Quartermaine to get fans up in arms about your leaving.
