Like Fictional Father, Like Fictional Son
Nathan Dean (formerly known as Nathan Parsons) memorably played Ethan, the son of Luke (the late Anthony Geary) and Holly (Emma Samms), from 2009-2012. Dean later returned to Port Charles for short stints in 2013, 2015, and 2020.
As Dean gears up to reprise his GH role, he joined co-star Benard (Sonny) for an upcoming episode of State of Mind, where the actor reflected on working with Geary.
After Dean remembered being asked to do bartender tricks at the Haunted Star, leading to a bottle of orange juice splashing across the set, the actor recalled what Geary did next. “Tony pulled me aside and he was like, ‘That was hilarious. Just do it again.'”
Despite worrying the failed trick would wind up getting him fired, he remembered the best advice he’d ever received from Geary. “You know, the worst thing they can ever say to you is, ‘No, don’t do that.'”
Dean also shared the way art imitated life for him and Geary. “It turns out we were incredibly similar people,” he shared. “I know they wrote that, but that was true before they wrote it.”
This isn’t the first Dean has spoke about his on-screen father. The actor recently revealed that Geary’s death was what motivated him to return to the soap as a way of honoring their relationship on and off screen.
