Don’t Mess With Carly: Her Enemies Learn That The Hard Way On General Hospital

Trying to take down General Hospital’s Carly is like trying to take down Mt. Olympus.

She’s big, she’s strong, and she’s not going anywhere. Yet, many have tangled with her over the years.

Carly’s (Laura Wright) latest adversary is the devious Nelle (Chloe Lanier), who’s determined to dethrone the queen bee of Port Charles. Here’s a look back at some other women who have called Carly enemy.

Mama Drama
Carly’s first GH foe was her own mother Bobbie (Jacklyn Zeman), the ex-prostitute who gave her up for adoption. She came to town hell-bent on destroying her life and did just that when she seduced Bobbie’s then-husband, Tony (Brad Maule). Bobbie discovered the affair on her wedding anniversary, making the two bitter enemies.

When Carly was released from Ferncliff sanitarium after shooting Tony, she and her son, Michael, moved in with Jason (Steve Burton) and his then girlfriend, Robin (Kimberly McCullough).

Robin hated how dependent Carly was on her man and how she used Michael to manipulate him. So she told A.J. that he was Michael’s father, blowing up Carly’s fantasy of a future Jason.

About Brenda
Some might call Carly and Brenda (Vanessa Marcil) born adversaries, because of their similar taste in men. Their continuous shuffle between Sonny (Maurice Benard), Jax (Ingo Rademacher), and Jason made for lots of sparring, jealousy and vengeful acts.

Tops on the list: when Carly witnessed Brenda kissing Sonny the day before her wedding to Jax, revealed all, and he dumped her during the ceremony.

Corrupt Claudia
There was never any love lost between Carly and Claudia Zacchara (Sarah Brown), but it turned to out-and-out loathing when Carly learned the mobster ordered the hit that resulted in Michael getting shot.

Things intensified when Claudia kidnapped Carly, who was pregnant with Josslyn, and delivered her baby in a remote cabin. Claudia planned to run off with the child, until Michael arrived and shot her dead, putting a permanent end to one of his mother’s enemies.

Ava the Seductress
Carly already detested Ava (Maura West), when the femme fatale began having an affair with her son, Morgan (Bryan Craig), and he started working with Ava’s rival crime family, the Jeromes.

While Ava had the upper hand for a while, things shifted, dramatically. Carly discovered Ava’s role in Morgan’s death and, along with Sonny, had a heated confrontation with her. It ended in a fire that left Ava severely burned and Carly feeling justice had been served.
