Soap opera fans are passionate people, especially when it comes to their favorite stars. General Hospital’s Rebecca Herbst (Elizabeth) bore the brunt of some of that passion when she tweeted about being one of the judges for the Emmy pre-nomination round.
Co-star Kelly Monaco (Sam) saw the tweet and eventually added her own two cents to it.
In her tweet, Herbst said:
“I had the privilege of judging for the Emmys, there were a lot submissions and a lot of talented actors. Congrats to all the pre-nominees!”
Within two hours of Herbst’s tweet, someone blasted her ability to act. Tactfully, Herbst opted not to engage in a Twitter war. Instead, she retweeted the message.
“Hmmm RT @Taeguu: @RebeccaLHerbst @GHSpoiler_Alert Who the hell ley [sic] you judge any thing [sic] that has to do with acting???”
On the other hand, Monaco chose to actively engage with her Twitter supporters.
“Agreed!!! Xo RT @soapsindepthabc @RebeccaLHerbst To quote someone, and I have no idea who… you was robbed!”
Do you think Monaco reacted well to not being nominated? Celebrities are often judged harshly and very aspect of their lives and talents are questioned. It is easy to associate a star with the character they portray. Could Herbst be paying the price for portraying Elizabeth, a character loved by some, but hated by many?
