Emma Samms hasn’t been on General Hospital (GH) for nearly three years but the actress is beloved — and is now experiencing a health crisis.
Samms tweeted her medical news on Wednesday. She revealed that she’s suffering from Bell’s Palsy, which is the paralysis of the facial nerve, causing muscular weakness on one side of the face.
“So. For the past week I’ve had a thing called Bell’s Palsy. I have a wonky smile, am in slight danger of dribbling a cup of tea and can’t close my eye. Not the end of the world. Trying to style it out with the eyepatch.”
You can see a photo of that stylish patch in the photo below. And we have to admit — the actress certainly wears it well and still looks absolutely beautiful.
The actress isn’t the first in daytime to suffer from the affliction. Kathryn Hayes (ex-Kim Hughes) went through it as well during her tenure on As the World Turns. It didn’t last long and the actress continued in the role without any lasting issues.
Samms recently rejoined the British soap opera, The Doctors, after leaving back in 2005. She reprised her role of Amanda, who returned to seek out the help of an ex-lover when her dead husband’s kids tried to cut her out of the will.
Does this mean the beloved actress won’t be available for a possible return to General Hospital? After all, Robert (Tristan Rogers) is now back and Holly used to be married to Scorpio. In fact, they were incredibly popular at one time. Stay tuned…
General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
