Donnell Turner On A Brand-New Jordan And Curtis… And Nina?

As Curtis prepped for his wedding to Jordan, General Hospital and actor Donnell Turner were in the throes of a Runaway Bride crisis: recasting Vinessa Antoine’s Jordan.

“It’s kind of a weird moment… kind of a weird time,” said Turner (Curtis), referring to his leading lady leaving the soap to take on the lead role in the Canadian drama series Diggstown.

“This is our baby,” added Turner, referring to the popular Curtis/Jordan coupling he created with Antoine. “We built something. But when I heard the circumstances [around Vinessa’s impending exit], I just thought, ‘This is Hollywood.’

“[As actors], we’ve got to do what we’ve got to do,” he continues. “If that window of opportunity opens, it doesn’t stay open. When it opens, you’ve got to dive through it — if it’s what you want.”

The Recast Is Ready
We now know Briana Nicole Henry has been cast in the role, so Curtis will not be without Jordan for long. It will just be a new dynamic.

“In its own way that’s exciting,” says Turner. “Curtis and Jordan are still forming and building something. So with a new person, I guess we could do the marriage and then rebuild, maybe, and take it from there.”

Of course, there are other actresses already on the GH canvas who seem to have sparks with him whenever they share a scene together. One such performer is Michelle Stafford (Nina), and Turner admits that that’s a relationship he enjoys playing.

“Michelle is a blast. I love her,” raves Turner. “Real artists love to play with other artists. It’s like being in a sandbox and just creating. I love when I get to spar with other people. Michelle’s one of them. You can throw anything at her. And she’s going to throw it back at me and know I can handle it. We just play and it’s fun.”
