The father-son duo of Dominic Zamprogna and Finn Carr were on fire on General Hospital in May. From Dante discovering Rocco pulled the trigger that night, not Jason, to Rocco making the bold decision to leave Port Charles with Britt, Carr, and Zamprogna didn’t miss a beat as this family dynamic was blown up.

Key Takeaways

  • Dominic Zamprogna gave a powerful performance as a heartbroken father.
  • Finn Carr portrayed a spiraling Rocco with depth, sadness, and overwhelming guilt.
  • The two actors revealed a broken father-son bond with a few words.

Zamprogna Subtly Changed Dante From Police Commissioner To Desperate Father

There is no question that Dante (Zamprogna) has always been a play-by-the-rules kind of guy. However, that changed the second he and Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) realized that Rocco (Carr) shot Cullum (Andrew Hawkes), and Jason (Steve Burton) was covering for him.

Zamprogna subtly shifted Dante from being in his police instincts to his fatherly instincts. Dante immediately destroyed evidence and lied to Cullum, as if it were no big deal, even though GH fans know it was for Dante.

Every single look or beat from Zamprogna spoke volumes. When Dante confronted Lulu (Alexa Havins), our hearts broke for him. Zamprogna showed a father’s heartbreak over being lied to about his child, while also making it clear that Rocco was his number one priority.

In the scenes where Dante lost his mind at Lulu for trying to take Rocco, Zamprogna raised his voice, but his eyes gave away how he felt. Dante was scared for his son and hurt that Lulu would take action without talking to him. The fact that his ex and son didn’t trust him was heartbreaking for Dante, and Zamporgna makes sure that wasn’t missed.

Carr Reminded Fans Rocco’s A Teen In Crisis

From the second Rocco shot Cullum, Finn has been hitting it out of the park with his performances. That was the case again as the guilt continued to eat Rocco alive.

Every time Rocco was on-screen, the turmoil he was going through was written all over his face. Carr showed how Rocco felt, rather than just yelling or screaming his anger and frustration.

In May, Carr took Rocco from a scared teen worried he was tearing his family apart, to a teen taking charge by running away with Britt (Kelly Thiebaud). It may not have been a smart choice. However, it was one Rocco made himself.

Carr’s performance showed Rocco struggling while also being ready to make his own decision, rather than have his parents fight over him.

The Dynamic Duo

While Zamprogna and Carr were amazing on their own, it’s the scenes they did together that solidified them as the performers of the month. The scenes where Dante confronted Rocco about the shooting and revealed he knew the truth were amazing.

These two actors said a lot without saying too much. Carr and Zamprogna oozed heartbreak, confusion, sadness, and love in everything they said and did with each other.

It was a classic soap moment where fans’ hearts broke for Rocco and Dante, and that’s all because of their portrayers. The chemistry between the actors was off the charts, making them even more believable as father and son.

We could gush over Zamprogna and Carr because they deserve all the props. This likely won’t be the last time either of them earn this honor.
