General Hospital’s Michael has literally no reason to be nice. Let’s start with genetics. His mother is Carly. Carly is nice only on very special occasions, as long as they are also not days which begin with Y.
His biological father is AJ (Sean Kanan). AJ may not have deserved to be hung on a meat hook in order to sign away his paternal right (though that was Billy Warlock), but he was no saint, either.
Michael’s adoptive dad is Sonny (Maurice Beanrd). Sonny kills people for a living. And for sport. Michael’s first father figure was Jason (Steve Burton). He learned everything he knows about killing people for a living and for sport from Sonny.
For a couple of months there, baby Michael was taken care of by Robin (Kimberly McCullough). She’s nice. But it didn’t stick.
Michael was kidnapped several times as a child, shot in the head, and put into a coma. When he woke up he was older but no wiser. Nelle (Chloe Lanier) recently played him for an idiot and told him their baby had died. He didn’t.
And yet, though all that, Michael (Chad Duell) continues to be…nice. Is it too much? What almost 8,000 fans said:
The Year Of Yes
Yes, and he needs to cut it out, 84% of you voted. When the truth comes out about Wiley, you expect Michael to forgive Brad (Parry Shen). And Obrecht (Kathleen Gatti). And Nelle.
It’s not that unlikely. Look at how many times he’s forgiven, Sonny and Carly!
No Nothing
Only 16% don’t see anything wrong with Michael always looking on the bright side. What other weapon does he have against the negativity that’s constantly swirling around him? He could become bitter or cynical or depressed. Or, he could fight back with positivity. When they go low, Michael goes high.
