When General Hospital’s (GH) Sonny commits his daily (hourly?) crime, he justifies it by explaining he did it for his family’s safety. When Carly (Laura Wright) does it, she does it for her family’s love.
But when Jax (Ingo Rademacher) bends the law in order to save his daughter, Josslyn’s, life — out of love — he’s deemed Port Charles Enemy Number one.
Does Jax deserve to go to prison for hiring Nelle’s (Chloe Lanier) dad to procure Joss a kidney — by any means necessary? Over 5,000 viewers grabbed their judge’s gavel.
Not Without My Daughter
Sonny The Holy Father is an undisputed fact of life in Port Charles. Well, Jax is a father, too. And Joss wasn’t merely about to lose her dream house, like Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and Lulu (Emme Rylan) a while back.
Joss was in danger of losing her life. (Jake wasn’t even dead, as we later learned, so no kidneys from him!) Jax did what he had to do, insist 49% of you.
Laying Down the Law
Throw the book at him, counter 27% of the fans. Letting Jax walk would set a terrible precedent. Can you imagine what Port Charles might be like if just anyone thought they could do whatever they wanted, law be damned?
Why, they’d end up attracting every criminal in the tri-state area, and that would lead to a mob war! They can’t risk that by giving Jax a slap on the wrist!
It’s Not Black Or White (Like a Prison Uniform)
The situation is a lot more nuanced, muse 24% of the audience. On the one hand, Jax did commit a crime.
But, on the other hand, the primary reason Sonny (Maurice Benard) is so eager to see Jax punished isn’t because of what was done to Nelle, but because of what Nelle did to him.
Let us never forget who the true victim is here.
