Remember those What If… webisodes that ran back in 2010? The award-winning series took popular characters from ABC’s three soap operas (All My Children, One Life to Live and General Hospital) and put them in an elevator, allowing viewers to wonder no more what it would be like if Viki Buchanan met Luke Spencer or Tad Martin encountered Blair Manning.
Well, GH and OLTL fans are getting a new version of What If… — one that will last longer than an elevator ride.
As previously reported, Hillary B. Smith is bringing her LLanview legal eagle, Nora Buchanan, to Port Charles where she’ll encounter Carolyn Hennesy, aka savvy attorney Diane Miller.
News of the pairing broke when Hennesy tweeted out a photo of her new BFF from the GH studios.
“I’d never met [Hillary] before, but when I did I threw my arms around her,” Hennesy tells Soap Hub. “She’s wonderful. I love great broads, these wonderful, wonderful women who are just all around whole people. They can dish it out and take it. They know the ropes and are professional. [Hillary] is all that — and more.”
Mum’s the word on exactly what brings the two attorneys to court. However, Hennesy says that their first encounter takes place in an unlikely setting.
She adds that working with the Emmy-winning star “made me better. And I made her laugh. We’ve been doing this too long to be insecure. It was two comrades and we had the best time!”
It’ll be interesting to see which attorney emerges the victor when these two square off. OLTL vets know that Nora doesn’t take any prisoners when it comes to doing the right thing in court, going so far as to throw a case after realizing her clients were guilty of rape.
Diane likewise is about far more than designer shoes and the hefty fee she charges her clients in order to purchase them; she has a big heart. “It’s coming out more and more,” Hennesy offers. “Diane believes that everyone deserves the best defense possible. She’s not going to do anything illegal, but she does get to be…creative.”
Wouldn’t it be great if Nora sticks around Port Charles long enough for her, Diane, and Alexis (once she gets her license back, of course) to open up their own law partnership? In fact, Soap Hub playfully suggests a name that the trio can hang on the front door – “Miller & Associates.”
“Ha,” chuckles Hennesy, adding with a smile, “I’d hire that firm!”
