On All My Children, the Queen of Daytime Susan Lucci’s Erica Kane could accomplish just about anything, but even she would have been powerless against COVID-19.
A Happy Reunion For Susan Lucci
The 74-year-old Emmy-winning actress has been vocal about how the pandemic has kept her from visiting her mother, 103-year-old Loretta Lucci, but after a year apart, she was finally able to visit her at her assisted living facility home in Florida.
“So very happy to see my mother for the first time in a year—in person!!!,” Lucci wrote on Instagram, sharing a photo of the two enjoying the reunion.
It was a week ago that Lucci shared a video on Instagram of her getting her second dose of the vaccine and captioned the video with “Moderna shot!!! So excited! Easy-peasy!!!”
A few days later, the actress posted a selfie from the plane that would be taking her to see her mom for the first time since last March.
Lucci’s dad passed away in 2002 and her older brother died recently, and she’s always enjoyed a close relationship with her mom, who worked as an OR nurse before transitioning to being a stay-at-home mom once she had kids.
Now that Lucci is safe to travel, expect to see more of her mom pop up on her social media in 2021.
It’s going to be an exciting year for the actress. She recently landed a gig on Amazon Prime’s upcoming musical series, Wholly Broken. Created by Tom Humbert, Lucci will play a congresswoman whose husband was killed by a drunken driver and she grapples with her relationship with her bipolar son. The show is based on the 2016 movie of the same name.
Then, of course, the possible All My Children primetime reboot is kicking around, and producers—and Lucci’s ex-cast mates—Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos (Hayley and Mateo) would surely love to have her back in Pine Valley.
