Like many an officer of the law before her, District Attorney Margaux came to General Hospital determined to bring Sonny down. She had plenty of professional reasons to want it to happen. He is, you know, a mobster. He’s killed multiple people and threatened an untold number more.
But, nope, Margaux (Elizabeth Hendrickson) had to make it personal. Something about her dead father, her cheating mother, Sonny’s old boss, blah, blah, blah…
We all know the drill. Once the grudge against Sonny is personal, any crime he may have committed becomes merely an excuse to get him, and is thus nullified.
So Margaux came and Margaux went. But then, she popped back up again on Friday ready to prosecute poor Kevin. Did you miss her? Here’s what over 16,000 viewers had to say:
Margaux was gone, 84% of you are scratching your heads. We didn’t notice. What purpose did she serve when she was actually there, again? For a moment, you feared that Margaux might become the next winner in the Everyone Gets a Chance To Be Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) Baby Mama Sweepstakes.
But when that moment passed, so did any interest in Margaux. They tried setting her up with Drew (Billy Miller). That fizzled. They considered putting her into another story. That didn’t go anywhere. Were we supposed to notice that she wasn’t sticking out like a sore thumb anymore?
Missed Chances
Only 15% of the audience is actually happy to see her again. It’s always nice to have another attorney in Port Charles. Diane (Carolyn Hennessey) is too figuratively in bed with the mob, and Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) is too literally fantasizing about it.
Could any woman lawyer actually get her job done? You hope Margaux might fill that role. But, perhaps she’s choosing the wrong battle now…
General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
