A young daytime soap star revealed a shocking incident that has left fans and his own parents reeling. The child star’s social media account was targeted by dangerous criminals.
TK Weaver portrays Danny on General Hospital and what happened to him shows how dangerous social media can be. Without a doubt, it’s vital for everyone, especially younger stars, to have parents and guardians keeping a watchful eye on their children’s accounts.
A post on Weaver’s Twitter feed revealed that some legit followers had been blocked or dropped because of a serious situation in which the youngster’s parents needed to step in to ensure his safety.
“Hi friends,” the tweet reads. “We had an issue with pedophiles on TK’s account so we got some help to block & report them. Some safe accts were unfollowed – most were private or locked accts. Please DM me & I’ll get you refollowed. Sorry for any confusion. TK is fine. He is protected.”
In responses to the post, Weaver’s parents added, “It’s part of being in the public eye I’m afraid. Devin [TK’s sister] had some crazy messages on her IG that we are still combing through. We have spoken to many parents in this business who have experienced this in some way. Sad. Thanks for your support always!”
This unfortunate incident is a reminder that parents should always closely monitor their children’s accounts whether they’re a star or not! Click here to learn more about being safe on Twitter.
