Nina and Sonny Corinthos got married on General Hospital with her secret about being the one to sic the SEC on Carly and Drew still under wraps. But, not for long! Michael stomped his foot and coaxed Martin into spilling the beans. And now, Michael is blackmailing Nina over it. Nina is not enjoying being blackmailed. We see only one way out of her dilemma.
Sonny Corinthos: Honesty Is Important
It’s not like Sonny (Maurice Benard) is some saint. He’s lied before. He’s blackmailed people before. Sonny’s even killed people before. Nina’s (Cynthia Watros) “crime” against Carly (Laura Wright) and Drew (Cameron Mathison) barely rates. Especially since she didn’t lie, blackmail, or kill. She simply told the truth. Which, we realize, to Carly is an even bigger offense, but that’s not the point. The point is, Nina did something Sonny would have easily done in her place. So, why not just tell him about it?
First Mover Advantage
In addition, if Nina tells Sonny first, then she can spin the story any way she likes. Part of the spin can be telling Sonny that Michael (Chad Duell) has known for weeks and used the information for his own purposes. How do Sonny and Carly like them apples?
Sure, on the one hand, they’ll be proud. Little Mikey is a chip off the old block! But, on the other hand, they’ll be betrayed. How could he have put his own interests ahead of theirs? (Granted, that’s chip-off-the-old-block behavior, too, but neither Sonny nor Carly will recognize it as such.)
Hurry Up
Nina can still have the upper hand here, but she has to frame it just right. She has to tell Sonny before anyone else gets the chance to tell him. The only thing worse than turning in criminals for a crime is Sonny learning he was the last to know…anything.
