General Hospital’s Michael Corinthos isn’t exactly known for being a truth-seeker. Just look at his history of blackmail (especially right now with Nina). It’s time for him to learn a lesson, but who will teach him honesty is always the best policy?
Michael Corinthos: The Best Man
Carly (Laura Wright) has always worshipped her oldest son, Michael (Chad Duell), and Joss (Eden McCoy) has happily followed suit. Michael = good. Those who don’t adore Michael = bad. So what will Joss do when she learns that Michael has been lying to everyone? But, especially to Joss?
Two Sides To Every Story
Michael has known for weeks that the person who turned Carly and Drew (Cameron Mathison) into the SEC was Nina (Cynthia Watros). But, instead of exposing her evil machinations, Michael kept the truth to himself…and just blackmailed Nina, instead. So, technically, he isn’t flat-out lying. But, he is lying by omission. Is that equally as heinous where Joss is concerned?
It Greatly Depends on Your Point of View
First and foremost, we can see Joss already beginning to rationalize that Michael isn’t lying to her. Did she ever ask him directly whether or not he knew the betraying culprit’s name? She has not. So Michael didn’t lie to her face. He didn’t even fib to her face.
Look What You Made Me Do
Still, how to rationalize further? Ah! It’s so obvious, even a child could see it! Nina is such a horrible person, that blackmail was the only thing Michael could do to protect Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) and their children. Any lie told in the service of protecting your family is not a lie, it’s a heroic act. Sonny (Maurice Benard) taught Michael that. And, Joss heartily approves. In certain situations.
