Where Was Jason Morgan While Away From GH?

Now that the General Hospital 60th anniversary primetime special has confirmed that Jason Morgan is headed back to Port Charles, the obvious question is: Where has he been since November 2021 when he was presumed dead in a tunnel collapse after a heroic shoot-out with the evil Peter August? It’s not that Jason hasn’t been presumed dead before. But, at the time, he was held against his will. Did that happen again or, this time, did Jason stay away of his own accord?

Jason Morgan: Reasonable Doubts

Jason (Steve Burton) has plenty of reasons to stay in Port Charles. There is his loyalty to Sonny (Maurice Benard), to Carly I(Laura Wright), and to Michael (Chad Duell). There is his love for Sam (Kelly Monaco), and his periodic interest in his children, Jake (Hudson West) and Danny.

But, he also has plenty of reasons to leave. Those also include Sonny, Carly, Michel, and Sam. At the time of his disappearance, Jason was drifting towards a relationship with Britt (Kelley Thiabaud), but as she’s dead now, that’s one less thing to drive him back to Port Charles.

What if Jason just decided he needed a fresh start, away from all the drama of the past few decades? After all, he’d done it before. When he shrugged off the Jason Quartermaine he couldn’t remember being and became Jason Morgan, mob flunky, and black T-shirt wearer. What if it was time to leave Jason Morgan behind, too?

Out of the Past

What if it’s more than that? What if the latest boo-boo to his noggin, this time around, erased Jason Morgan, and brought back Jason Quartermaine? Can you imagine how terrified the straight-arrow medical student would have felt to wake up buried in rubble, and have no idea how he got there?

He would have gone running to the Quartermaine mansion, only to learn that his grandparents, father, brother, and beloved sister, Emily, were dead. And Monica (Leslie Charleson) was — who knows where? An overwhelmed Jason Q would have gone stumbling into the night…and is only ready to come back now.
