Sonny loves crime on General Hospital. But he hates dishonesty. You know what he particularly hates about dishonesty? When someone is dishonest about reporting a crime. Because committing crime is…fine. Turning in criminals is…not fine. Turning in criminals is particularly not fine when the criminal is a member of Sonny’s family. And then not telling Sonny about it. Especially if you are also a member of Sonny’s family. Which is why the odds of Sonny ever forgiving Nina for her betrayal of Carly and Drew appear to be pretty low at this time.
Love Conquers All
Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) love switch is really easy to turn on, and even easier to turn off (see what happens when it turns off here). Remember when Brenda (Vanessa Marcil) wore a wire and he yelled and stomped and said he no longer loved her? Remember when Carly (Laura Wright) was…Carly? And now it’s Nina’s (Cynthia Watros) turn. Whether he loved her or not once is no longer relevant. There are procedures to follow here.
What About
Might Sonny’s feelings change when he factors in that Michael (Chad Duell) also knew what Nina did…but kept it a secret in order to blackmail her? Maybe. There will be yelling and stomping, for sure. Might Sonny’s anger at Michael overrule his anger at Nina? He isn’t a very complex guy. He has trouble juggling more than one emotion. So maybe a new outrage will wipe Nina’s slate clean?
End of the Road
But that’s a real Hail Mary play for Nina. She has to know that the Sonny Rules of Conduct involve no forgiveness, not even an entertaining of extenuating circumstances. Nina did a bad thing. So Nina is bad. Sonny must tell Nina she is bad. Sonny must punish Nina for the bad thing. Sonny won’t forgive. Sonny is Sonny. End discussion.
