On the Couch: Why GH’s Violet Finn Has No Boundaries

Violet Finn is the apple of her daddy’s eye on General Hospital. And her uncle’s. And her grandfather’s. And her dad’s girlfriend’s. And…well, the list goes on and on. As a result, Violet seems to be under the impression that not only is her opinion of the doings of Port Charles’ adults welcome, but that it is, in fact, vital. What gave her this idea? We put wee Violet on the couch to find out.

On the Couch: Violet Finn

Violet (Jophielle Love) spent the first few years of her life living with her mom, Hayden (Rebecca Budig), and no dad. When she finally met Finn (Michael Easton), it was time for Hayden to take off and abandon her. Sure, Finn…and Chase (Josh Swickard)…and Anna (Finola Hughes)…and Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst)…reassured Violet that it wasn’t her fault. She’s the most perfect child who ever childed. (She could give precious Connor Newman [Judah Mackey] on The Young and the Restless a run for his money.) But what if Violet is only pretending to believe that?

Fake It Till You Make It

What if, deep down, Violet believes that first her daddy, then her mommy abandoned her for a good reason. Like, that she wasn’t a good enough girl. And to get Mommy to come back, Violet needs to be the best girl in the world. And what does it mean to be a good girl? It means being the girl her family wants her to be.

And how does she know who her family wants her to be? Well, just pay attention to what they coo and fuss over. They think it’s adorable when Violet sticks her nose into adults’ business and their romantic relationships? Yes, they do. So let’s have Violet do more of that!

Do As I Say

Violet has convinced Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) and Chase to have their wedding ASAP. For Violet’s sake. Does she really care about the wedding? Or is this just another step in her campaign to be adorable, lovable Violet? Surely, if she keeps carrying on like this, someone will tell Hayden. And then she’ll come back. And Violet can stop. All that adorableness is exhausting. But, hey, will anybody love her if she doesn’t play the part?
