Justine May Have Asked the Worst Possible Person to Decide Sonny’s Fate on GH

Anna’s history with Sonny could either strengthen Justine’s case review or make the outcome even more controversial.

Justine may have finally realized she cannot trust herself to be objective about Sonny, but her solution on General Hospital is almost comically complicated. She asked Anna to review the evidence and decide whether there is enough to arrest him for the attack on Sidwell and Curtis. The problem is that Anna has her own long, messy history with Sonny, which makes her a questionable choice to serve as Port Charles’ human impartiality meter.

Key Takeaways

  • Justine admitted she may not be objective about Sonny and asked Anna to review the evidence against him.
  • Anna has her own complicated history with Sonny, including the fact that he once saved her life.
  • Justine previously questioned Anna’s objectivity, making her choice of reviewer especially ironic.
  • Anna has turned against Sonny before, so her past could make her more careful about the decision now.

Justine Knows She Cannot Be Objective About Sonny

Justine (Nazneen Contractor) admitted that her feelings for Sonny (Maurice Benard) have affected the way she sees the case. She already ended their relationship because she believed he ordered the attack, but by Friday, she was questioning whether the evidence was actually strong enough. That was enough for her to ask Anna (Finola Hughes) for a second opinion.

The irony is that Justine previously accused Anna of protecting Sonny. Anna pushed back on that, but she also admitted Sonny has a way of pulling people into his orbit and getting them to do things they normally would not. Justine then acknowledged that she had fallen into that same trap herself.

Anna also pointed out that Sonny once saved her life, which naturally colors how she feels about him. That does not mean she will ignore evidence, but it does mean Justine has chosen someone with a very personal history to decide whether another very personal history has compromised her judgment. For a supposedly independent review, this one comes with a lot of emotional fine print.

Anna Has Turned on Sonny Before

There is another wrinkle, though. Anna has not always defended Sonny. Back in early 2024, she reevaluated their friendship after Dex (Evan Hofer) exposed details about Sonny’s criminal organization, and Laura (Genie Francis) did the same. Suddenly, two women who had overlooked plenty over the years decided Sonny’s business had become impossible to ignore.

That history could actually cut both ways now. Anna knows what it is like to care about Sonny and still conclude that he crossed a line. She also knows what it is like to have people assume her judgment is compromised simply because of their friendship.

That may make Anna more careful than anyone else Justine could have asked. But if Anna decides there is not enough evidence to arrest Sonny, plenty of people will still see favoritism. If she decides there is, Sonny may feel betrayed all over again. Either way, Justine may have handed Anna a decision nobody is going to accept quietly.
