General Hospital has been finding long-lost sisters, brothers, parents, and children for decades. Port Charles is filled with secret relatives. Nina found out that she had not one, but two, daughters that she had never met. Too bad neither of them was Sasha.
What Could Have Been
Years ago, Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) only wanted to make Nina (Cynthia Watros) happy. It may have been delusional, but he thought finding her daughter, even if it was a lie, would accomplish that. Enter Sasha (Sofia Mattsson), who became Nina’s “fake” daughter.
The two had an instant connection. They liked each other and became close right away. Sasha wished that the Crimson Editor really was her mom. After a while, she had to come clean and admit the lie because she cared for Nina too much to continue the farce. There was plenty of anger, but in time, all was forgiven, and the two eventually became closer than ever.
Later, Nina discovered that she had twin daughters. One was Nelle (ex-Chloe Lanier), and the other was Willow (Katelyn MacMullen).
Evil Twins
Nelle is obvious. She was plain evil. Willow is a different story. She wasn’t a bad person at first, but mom and daughter did not click. Willow was Team Carly (Laura Wright), and Carly hated Nina.
Nina tried hard because she was desperate for a relationship with her newfound daughter. She made many mistakes, but Willow wouldn’t give her an inch. Willow realized she needed her mom when the only one who stood by her during her affair with Drew (Cameron Mathison). Although they have a relationship now, Nina walks on eggshells because she is terrified that her daughter will cut her off. The relationship is very one-sided.
Things were different with Sasha. It was easy. They could talk about things, and they helped each other. Sasha was a friend and didn’t make demands. It was a more even-keeled relationship. The goodbye between the two women was heartbreaking because they had real love and trust. Nina will miss Sasha terribly.
Nina may have been a different person if Sasha were her daughter. Life would probably have been easier for both of them. What do you think? Let us know in the comments section.
