Here’s Why Lucky’s Return Fell Flat On General Hospital

Lucky is the son of General Hospital royalty Luke and Laura. He was away from Port Charles for years and fans have been hoping for his return home. It finally happened and…nothing.

He’s Baaack!!

Lucky (Jonathan Jackson) came to Port Charles as a kid and grew up in front of our eyes. He had an adventurous childhood with Luke (Anthony Geary) and Laura (Genie Francis) as parents. Young Lucky had one of GH’s best teen love stories with Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst), became close with his brother Nikolas (then Tyler Christopher), and was, of course, held hostage by the evil Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers). As he got older, he became a police officer, married Liz more than once, suffered from a drug problem, and had an affair with Maxie (Kirsten Storms).

Lucky left Port Charles in 2011 and briefly returned in 2015. He has been away since then doing volunteer work in Africa. He missed both his father’s and beloved Aunt Bobbie’s (Jacklyn Zeman) death, his sister falling into a coma, and his son Aiden’s (Colin Cassidy) childhood.

Lucky finally returned home to help save his sister Lulu’s (Alexa Havins) life by donating a liver. Knowing his past, there should have been excitement and a crazy fun storyline with his return. Even a romantic beautiful reconciliation with his childhood love would have been nice. But he just came home. That was that. He couldn’t even save Lulu.

Nice Try

GH tried but failed to put a little excitement in Lucky’s homecoming. He was taken hostage in Somalia by Sidwell (Carlos Rota) with his new friend Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson). Sounds like excitement potential but, there were just days and days of card playing. It was fun to see Holly (Emma Samms) pop up, but the most exciting thing during the rescue was the kiss between Anna (Finola Hughes) and Jason (Steve Burton) which had nothing to do with Lucky.

He came home, didn’t save his sister’s life, saw his son for ten minutes, and then debated whether or not to stay in Port Charles for a while.

Still Hope

Lucky may still make a comeback. He knows what Cyrus is up to and since the PCPD isn’t doing much to catch him, Lucky and Elizabeth are taking it upon themselves. Action and romance may be in their future.
