Britt and Nathan’s return from the dead on General Hospital has brought up questions about their family tree. Here’s a little refresher on how the Reeves and Fasion families are connected.
Siblings or Cousins?
When Dr. Britt Westbourne, aka the Britch (Kelly Thiebaud), arrived in Port Charles, she didn’t have any family. Not long after, though, her mother, Dr. Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati), and their tense relationship were introduced.
Next, hunky detective Nathan West (Ryan Paevey) came on the scene, and his sister Nina Reeves (then Michelle Stafford) soon followed. It was then that GH fans learned Nina and Nathan’s mother was Madeline Reeves (Donna Mills).
The name didn’t mean anything until the reveal that Madeline and Liesl were sisters. This made Britt a cousin to Nathan and Nina until another classic soap twist came in. It turned out that Madeline wasn’t Nathan’s biological mom. Liesl was, and she gave him up to protect him from his evil father.
Just when we thought this family couldn’t get any more entangled, Nathan went on the hunt for his biological father. Liesl claimed it was Victor Cassadine, which Nathan believed for a while, but the audience knew it was a lie.
A couple of years later, Nathan learned that evil mastermind Cesar Faison (Anders Hove) was his biological dad, which makes it understandable why Liesl gave him to Madeline for protection in the first place.
This made both Nathan and Britt the children of Liesl and Faison. However, there was more of the Faison family out there.
Peter August (Wes Ramsey) was thrown into the mix ahead of Paevey’s exit as Nathan. Despite hiding his true identity at first, GH fans later learned that Peter was really Faison’s son, Henrik Faison.
For a while, Anna (Finola Hughes) was believed to be Peter’s mother. In the end, though, Anna proved that her evil twin, Alex Devane (Finola Hughes), was Peter’s mom.
So, to recap real quick, Nathan and Britt are siblings, and Nina is their cousin. However, since Nina and Nathan were raised as siblings, they still consider each other siblings, not cousins.
The family tree refersher makes the question of who is “C” on GH even more intriguing.
