Willow Tait is under the impression, on General Hospital, that everything she does is for her children, and that she is the best mother who ever mothered. Nothing like Harmony Miller, the woman who raised her. And likely nothing like the biological mom who abandoned Willow at birth. That’s what Willow thinks. And that’s what Michael Corinthos is encouraging her to think. But, we’re sorry, that’s not what we’re seeing.
We’re not even going to get into how Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) hovers over and helicopter parents Wiley. That’s a personal choice lots of other modern moms and dads make. (And, frankly, it’s still got to be better than the other citizens of Port Charles, whose kids are “upstairs” for years at a time.)
But Willow’s hysterical, downright psychotic reaction to Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) stopping by the house…and Wiley being happy to see his grandma…wouldn’t qualify as good parenting under any circumstances. How did she not terrify the boy with her screaming?
And then there’s how Willow is handling her cancer diagnosis. She decided not to get treatment in order to protect her unborn baby from the effects of chemotherapy. But did Willow give any thought to the notion that if she died while still pregnant, the baby would die, too?
Further, did she think about what it meant that she was prioritizing the as-yet-unborn child over Wiley, the child she already had? If Willow dies in the process of saving her baby, not only will the baby be deprived of a mother, but also Wiley. How is this in his best interests?
Willow is so afraid of Nina that she is having nightmares of Nelle’s (Chloe Lanier) mother stealing not only Wiley’s but Willow’s dollie, too. (OK, OK, we know, that was supposed to be her daughter. Just very plastic-like.) Doesn’t she realize that her death will only make that more likely?
