General Hospital was all about Drew for the longest time. Now that Drew has been put in his place, so to speak, the ABC soap has become all about Sidwell, and it’s too much.

Trading One Bad Guy for Another on GH
For well over a year, GH fans watched as Drew (Cameron Mathison) was manipulative and evil to get what he wanted. During this time, Sidwell (Carlo Rotta) was also involved in serious masterminding to gain the upper hand over many Port Charles residents, including Sonny (Maurice Benard), Laura (Genie Francis), Drew, and Britt (Kelly Thiebaud), to name a few.
Thanks to Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) and Sidwell making Drew incapacitated, we don’t have to watch him terrorize the town anymore. However, having to watch another man call the shots on the soap has been annoying.
It’s very rinse-and-repeat, learning that Sidwell is calling so many shots. Kudos to Maxie (Kirsten Storms) for standing up to him, something others in town haven’t been able to do so far.
While we don’t like GH having one villain in control, there’s something that makes Sidwell vastly different from Drew. Rotta is so unbelievable as Sidwell, the bad guy who comes off like a genuine guy with a sense of humor. Nothing against Mathison, who is a great actor, but the layers Rota has added to Sidwell just make us like him as an evil menace more.
Sidwell is a great soap villain and reminds us of those from back in the day that fans loved to hate. For example, Stefano (the late Joseph Mascolo) on Days of our Lives.
Right now, though, Sidwell is doing too much, and it’s ruining the character. It was challenging enough to watch Drew get his way for months on GH. Watching it with Sidwell is exhausting.
