A Critic’s Review Of General Hospital: Who Is The Real Monster?

When it comes to General Hospital, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the GH week that was.

General Hospital: The Critic Laments

I could devote a whole column to my disappointment, no, make that rage, that General Hospital head honchos Chris and Dan/Dan and Chris saw fit to positively absolve St. Carly (Laura Wright) of any wrongdoing, to shield her from having to suffer any consequences from her actions, and to stymie any and all opportunities for the character to grow in a positive direction — wasn’t she supposed to be a different person post-Jacksonville? — but I won’t.

To be honest with you, I’m not in the least bit surprised that this is the direction the storyline has taken. In fact, this is exactly how I envisioned all this playing out. Carly is the golden child as far as this creative team is concerned, and she can and never will do any wrong.

What I would like to use this section for is to ask you the audience whether or not you think it probable — perhaps I should say, possible? — that Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) will come around and make nice with sudden mother Nina (Cynthia Watros)?

Personally, I’d like to think so. Willow is the same girl that didn’t have much of a problem forgiving Harmony her plethora of sins which included, amongst a whole host of nightmarish actions, drugging her (Willow) so that a man could sexually assault her.

And I know that Nina has done some very questionable things in her past, but, I mean, has she actually done anything that heinous? Is Nina REALLY more of a monster than Harmony? No, seriously, I’m asking you. I truly, sincerely want to know if you think that Nina is the one person who should go unforgiven by Willow who’s already blessed Carly and Harmony.

Further GH Musings

* Just to clear up any confusion, last week I wondered whether or not General Hospital would be retconning the paternity of Esme’s (Avery Kristen Pohl) baby, but I failed to make it absolutely clear in my ponderance that I was merely hedging giving my distrust of this soaps’ current regime. After all, last week they had Carly claiming that she used strands of Willow’s hair for the DNA test when they previously SHOWED her absconding with Willow’s toothbrush. Is it any wonder that I wondered at all?

* Is it just me, or does it seem like ‘Vana’s’ search for Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) has been going on for AGES now? … And for the record, it’s only been ongoing for about three-ish months. I checked. At this point, I don’t even care how this storyline ends as long as it ends.

* Oh, great. We’re still soldiering on with — or is it slugging through? — the ‘Does Marshall Have Schizophrenia Or Doesn’t He’ storyline. Yay…?
