A Critic’s Review Of General Hospital: The Blame Game & Mysteries

When it comes to General Hospital, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the GH week that was.

General Hospital: The Critic’s POV

Hot take (and may the WGA G-ds forgive me for saying this): I hope the scabs currently peening General Hospital scripts are retained after the strike concludes.

In a mere four episodes, we’ve had more forward movement in two of the most interminably plotted storylines than we could have ever hoped to see in four months under Chris and Dan/Dan and Chris’s regime.

Those scenes between nuMolly (Brooke Anne Smith) and nuKristina (Kate Mansi) were nothing short of stunning and Dante’s (Dominic Zamprogna) and Charlotte’s (Scarlett Fernandez) visit to Lulu (mystery under-five lady lying in a bed) was much appreciated.

How telling it is that these writers seem to not only know but VALUE General Hospital‘s history more so than the supposed stewards who see continuity as something to be trifled with at best, and something to be ignored at worst.

Further GH Musings

* Carly, Carly, Carly (Laura Wright). Always the heroine of her own story. She’s going to “get back everything she’s lost”, but truthfully, she gave away her half of the Metro Court (which was GIVEN to her, not earned mind you), she put herself in the predicament she’s in now, and yet Nina (Cynthia Watros) is the one to blame? Huh? What? [UGH! Got me saying something in Nina’s defense…you all know I can’t stand either one of those women. They’re both their own worst enemies. They’re both incapable of truly taking responsibility for their own actions. In fact, they both are practically the same person so, of course, they hate each other.]

* Given that Victor willed the deed of that house in Chechnya, how is it that it was sold to that gun-toting gentlemen who was of no help to Laura (Genie Francis) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart)?

* I’m REALLY hoping that we’ve gotten past Curtis’s (Donnell Turner) painfully pitiful “poor me” episode because the two days I had to suffer through that were more than enough, thank you very much.

* I’m sorry, but in all the time they dated previously, had Liz (Rebecca Herbst) and Finn (Michael Easton) never really talked? How could he not know that Liz was a budding artiste?

* Of course, the butler at Wyndemere is named Giles. Of course, he is!

* So, Chris and Dan/Dan and Chris’s last act before going on strike was to separate Delia and Roger (unless Roger is coos with his wife going on overnights with strange men. Dr. Coleridge did always seem a bit kinky)?

First, they screw with GH history, and now they screw with Ryan’s Hope? How dreadful!

* Terry to Yuri: I’ve never been so happy. … Chet: OUCH!

* There’s now no doubt in my mind that the Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) on my screen is a pod person. My Ava, the real Ava would have killed Betty (Ella Lentini) dead before the sting of the slap she delivered had soothed. (Okay, so the new writers aren’t perfect.]
