A Critic’s Review Of General Hospital: Lots Of Build-up & Anticipation

When it comes to General Hospital, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the GH week that was.

General Hospital: The Critic’s POV

This week was a pretty tough watch. Almost all that transpired was a build-up, and there was very little payoff. We did learn that Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) isn’t going to lose her job, natch, and there was that delightful scene of rapprochement between Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart). Romantic sigh.

Oh, and there was Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) and Chase (Joshua Swickard) taking on step forward and two giant leaps back, and Jordan (Tanisha Harper) very nearly debasing herself by meeting that puckered hypocrite Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) halfway.

But other than all that, we merely continued to barrel towards the inevitable showdown between Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) and his detractors, the eventual revelation that Gladys (Bonnie Burroughs) has been doing Sasha (Sofia Mattsson) all kinds of dirty, the outing of Dex (Evan Hofer) and Michael’s (Chad Duell) alliance, and all the other potent secrets awaiting airing. And the Nurses Ball. There was lots and lots of talk about the Nurses Ball.

We also saw the groundwork being laid for Epiphany’s (Sonya Eddy) sendoff which I’m hoping against hope will be the tribute she so richly deserves. Also, no scavenger hunts, please!

Further GH Musings

* I’m not even surprised that Carly (Laura Wright) has been inserted (read: forced) into the “Get Victor” storyline. In fact, I can’t believe it’s taken them this long. What does surprise me, however, is the lengths that they went to get her involved.

Valentin has never, ever been written as stupid, but there he was, out and about for a stroll on the infamous “Robin’s Bridge.” Surely Chris and Dan/Dan and Chris could have plotted something other than the assassination of Valentin’s character on the altar of Carly. On second thought…no, no they probably couldn’t have.

* Three’s Company it’s not, but I still wouldn’t mind a “bottle episode” featuring the goings on at crowded casa Collins.
