A Critic’s Review Of General Hospital: Dialogue Debate & Meandering Story

The author’s opinions on General Hospital are his and his alone. They’re suitably scathing, fairly humorous, and normally bang on target.

When it comes to General Hospital, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the GH week that was.

General Hospital: The Critic Is Tickled…For All The Wrong Reasons

So there William Lipton [Cameron Webber] and Eden McCoy [Josslyn Jacks] were, giving searing performances worthy of a Daytime Emmy, and out of McCoy’s mouth comes a line that literally, LITERALLY had me laughing out loud. You know the one. The one that goes, “I had already decided that we were over long before [I slept with Dex]…I just hadn’t found the time to tell you.”

Talk about being taken out of a scene. I hooted and hollered and wound up having to pause the episode because I just couldn’t believe such a ridiculous thing had been uttered. This, this is why I constantly harp on Josslyn. This is also why I frequently decry General Hospital and the men who make it. How did that bit of dialogue make it through?

Also, I’m still trying to suss out what exactly Josslyn/the writers were trying to get across when she said/warned — totally stoned-faced — that if she and Cameron couldn’t come to some kind of understanding she’d, “have to tell Dex before this gets back to Sonny.”

Was the implication that Cameron could/would be beaten — or worse, killed — by Josslyn’s new beau unless he promised to keep mum? Or am I reading too much into what was said? Was it all perfectly innocent?

Further GH Musings

* Now that Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) are back in Port Charles and working in tandem with the likes of Robert (Tristan Rogers), Laura (Genie Francis), and Felicia (Kristina Wager) against big bad Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy), does this mean that we’re FINALLY poised for some — any? — resolution to this meandering, interminable storyline?

What do you think? Post a comment!

* So, why are we just now hearing that stem cells harvested from the umbilical cord of Willow’s (Katelyn MacMullen) could be the cure for what’s ailing her? Why wasn’t that discussed, oh, I don’t know, immediately after the first possible bone marrow donor proved unviable? You know, BEFORE the [expletive] hit the fan where Willow’s maternity was concerned.

Oh, that’s right! It couldn’t have been brought up any sooner because they had to shoehorn in the big ‘Nina Is Willow’s Mommy’ reveal which had been months and months and months in the making. Screw any discernable logic. We’ve gotta up the drama factor.

* You know, it’s funny — actually, it’s not — that when Trina (Tabyana Ali) was on trial for distributing the tape of Cameron and Josslyn having sex the A.D.A. wanted to throw the book at her, but now that Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl) has been charged with the crime — PLUS the drugging/attempted murder of Oz — she’s going to get a slap on the wrist because…amnesia? Yeah, her pass is all down to the amnesia. Pssst…no, it isn’t.
