On General Hospital, Franco was madly in love with his wife, Elizabeth, and he cared very deeply for her three sons. But who, besides them, was he the closest to? We asked the opinions of over 3,000 of you:
General Hospital Polling: Ex-Love
A majority 55% of the audience think it was Ava (Maura West). They were romantically involved back in the day, and she even had him convinced he was Kiki’s (Hayley Erin) father for a while. They understood each other. They were both nuts, both a wee bit criminal, yet each desperately wanting to be loved. It was a no-judgment zone with these two. And yet she found out about his death offscreen.
Besties
Franco (Roger Howarth) hit it off with Liesl (Kathleen Gati) pretty quickly so 42% pointed to her. They also had that whole nuts/criminal thing in common.
She hired him to be the art therapist at General Hospital – experience? Qualifications? Background check? What are those? He knew she had a bit of a crush on him, and he milked it. But he also truly liked her, too. Again with no judgment… and the adoration. Crazy Killers need to stick together! And yet she found out about his death offscreen.
Too Much Water Under the Bridge
Once upon a time, Franco and Nina (Cynthia Watros) were very close. They were romantically involved. There may have been some baby stealing. (The baby may have been Ava’s. Life in Port Charles is complicated.) But that closeness dissipated a long time ago.
Franco moved on with Elizabeth and the boys, and Nina embarked on the on-again/off-again dysfunctional mess that was her and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart). And then whatever it is she has with Jax (Ingo Rademacher) when he isn’t putting Carly (Laura Wright) ahead of her.
The point is, Nina and Franco drifted apart a long time ago, which is likely why only 3% of the viewers voted for them as friends till the end. She too found out about his death offscreen. She’ll miss him…when she has the time. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
