Julian shall now be known as the Man Who Took Forever To Die on General Hospital. He left town, he jumped off a balcony, he washed up, he went to a bus station, there was shooting, he went to heaven with Duke (Ian Buchanan) and Kate (Megan Ward).

General Hospital Polling

Did he? We can’t even be sure of that, at this point. Was this a good-bye to rival the end of the last Lord of the Rings movie? What almost 2,000 fans told us:

Heck to the Yes!

A winning – and loud – 60% of you cannot believe how much time it took to rub Julian (William DeVry) out. You almost expected to see the seasons change in the background. Was he really that important of a character that his demise had to go on and on? (Then again, feels like Mike took forever, too. Maybe time just moves slower in Port Charles. When you’re not having fun.)

And it’s not like Julian hasn’t died before. That time, it went by faster. And nobody really missed him for a couple of decades. Was this supposed to make up for that? It would have been one thing if his drawn out death had been an opportunity for Julian to reconcile with ex-wife Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn), kids Sam (Kelly Monaco) and Lucas, or even say goodbye to sister Ava (Maura West). Instead, we got a Looney Tunes chase scene.

On the other hand, 40% of the audience found the slow burn suspenseful. It was a classic cat and mouse chase, with Julian on one side, and Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Jason (Steve Burton) on the other. Sure, we knew who was going to win from the start, but ‘how’ was always up in the air. And then, in the end, Julian still managed to surprise them – and us. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
