Christian Slater is a film, television, and theater actor who has been working in the entertainment business since he was just a teenager. From the cult classic Heathers to True Romance, Slater has been in some pretty iconic movies over the years. He also appeared on soaps.
Along with his film career, Slater, who has often been described as a young Jack Nicholson, currently stars on the television show Mr. Robot. From where he was born and raised to winning a big award, here are five fast facts about the actor.
Who Is Christian Slater?
He was born on August 18 in New York City, where he also grew up. He attended the Dalton School, the Professional Children’s School, and Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Performing Arts. His father was also an actor and his mother was an agent and casting director, so Slater was destined to be in show biz from the start.
Soap Beginnings
Slater started acting at a very young age and his first television show appearance was on an episode of One Life to Live when he was 8. Then, about eight years later, he was cast as D.J. LaSelle on Ryan’s Hope — opposite Yasmine Bleeth.
For River
Slater was cast in both Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles and The Crow after his friend and fellow actor, River Phoenix, tragically passed away. Slater decided to donate his entire paycheck from Interview with the Vampire to Phoenix’s favorite charities as a way to honor his life and their friendship.
Mr. Golden
Slater currently stars as Edward Alderson in Mr. Robot alongside Academy Award-winner Rami Malek. His performance has been praised by critics and it even won him the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor in a Series back in 2016.
