With many fans venting that there are too many people on the Port Charles canvas, it looks like General Hospital (GH) is about to add one more.
According to Soap Opera Digest, GH is looking for an African-American character named Jessica who is described as being in her late 30s, as well as “beautiful and dynamic…strong, smart, and savvy and plays both sides of the law.”
This news of a new contract player has sparked speculation on several fronts. Some fans have wondered if the character is a Jordan recast, but considering Vinessa Antoine’s popularity with Donnell Turner, we doubt that’s the case.
Still others, including Soap Hub, wonder if GH is bringing back a member of the Ward family.
In the 1990s, we had Mary-Mae Ward, and her grandchildren Justus and Keisha. It turned out Justus was Edward Quartermaine’s grandson and Keisha was involved with Jason until the accident that turned him into Jason Morgan.
The social media fandom has also imagined Mishael Morgan in whatever role this happens to be, as she just left The Young and the Restless.
Of course, the character can always be someone with no ties to anyone else in town, played by an actress new to soaps. As Soap Hub learns more, we’ll keep you informed.
General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
