Who The Heck Is THIS? Fans Barely Recognize Sam On General Hospital (GH)

When General Hospital (GH) fans first set eyes on Sam McCall, she was a con-artist with a thing for bad boys.

Sonny (Maurice Benard) got to try her out first, as Port Charles law demands. But then Sam (Kelly Monaco) moved on to Jason (Steve Burton) and, uhm, dancing with the stars, in a pretty ill-advised ballroom plot created solely to cash in on Monaco’s reality show notoriety.

We’ve seen Sam as a villain, we’ve seen her as a victim. We’ve seen her scheming, and we’ve seen her sniveling. We’ve seen her as a moll and as a mom. But fans have never seen Sam like this: Corporate Cutie Barbie.

Choosing Jason 2.0 a.k.a. long-lost twin, Drew (Billy Miller), means Sam also chose to work with the media, not mobsters. And over 10,000 viewers are happy to broadcast their feelings about it, loud and clear.

Hell, No, Where’d Sam Go?
We prefer the old Sam, thank you very much, 71% of the audience voted.

You want her propping up the most noble men in Port Charles, the much maligned coffee exporters, tangling with Carly (Laura Wright), explaining to Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn), why Julian (William DeVry) is a bad mobster, confused about why Alexis can’t tell the difference, and, sure, even playing mom to Danny and that impostor child, Scout.

But you do not want her making payroll, meeting deadlines, and walking the straight and narrow, because that’s just not the Sam you know and love.

Grown Ups
You can’t stay a kid forever, counter 28% of you. Sam had to grow up sometime, and having two kids is as good of a time as any. Just because Jason didn’t change a single iota during his five years away, doesn’t mean Sam had to stay mired in amber. Maybe Carly should take a maturity lesson….
