We’ve been waiting nine long months (in soap time, in real time it’s been about 5-6 months) for an obvious baby switch plot on General Hospital (GH), and it looks like one of the oldest soap clichés in the book is about to be born.
Could GH have dropped any more hints today than it did? How many times did we have to hear about Maxie’s (Kirsten Storms) baby being super active.
Yes, in the real world babies often slow down before they’re about to make their debut, but if a baby is talked about enough and the OB is consulted, there’s definitely something up.
We also had Julian (William deVry) telling that same OB that his son, Leo, was born on Nurses’ Ball Night three years ago. Not only that, he was born right there at the ball.
Friday’s spoilers reveal that Peter’s (Wes Ramsey)plans are interrupted when Maxie asks him to take her home AND that something is wrong with Nelle’s baby as the fetal monitors start to go insane.
Let’s not forget Brad (Parry Shen) and Lucas (Ryan Carnes). They’re adopting a baby and they were even slated to wed at the ball two years ago before Paul Hornsby ended up attacking both Lucas and Bobbie.
So, we still have to ask, which baby–if any–dies? And, which baby ends up with their rightful parents? While it seems obvious that Nelle’s baby will be the one that doesn’t make it considering that fall she took, GH might just pull a fast one on us.
However, our bets are still on Nelle being the loser here, which could end in Maxie thinking she lost her baby and possibly having a nervous breakdown after she just lost her baby’s father in January.
It may be a plot from way back, but baby switches are tried and true and we can’t wait to see how this one plays out.
General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
