The only love that General Hospital fans agree ever came close to Carly for Sonny is Brenda. Brenda (Vanessa Marcil) is the one who first turned Sonny from a sleazy mobster who drugs teenage girls to a dreamy, dimpled leading man who only mobs for truth, justice, and the American Way.

Brenda wore a wire to trap Sonny (Maurice Benard) and he swore he’d never forgiven her. He forgave her. Brenda married Jax (Ingo Rademacher) and Sonny swore he’d never forgive her. He forgave her. She died, and she hid a secret son with another mobster, and, still, Sonny kept coming back. So did Jax.
