Bed Rest: Are Viewers Sick of General Hospital’s (GH) Misery Story?

 Comments

People are always jumping into bed on General Hospital (GH). Sometimes it’s a good thing, sometimes it’s a bad thing but, almost always, it’s an entertaining thing.

Not to so much with Peter (Wes Ramsey). He spent weeks in a bed and although he’s now upright on Spoon Island, it doesn’t feel like much has changed for an awfully long time now.

And he’s not where he is because he wants to be, but because Liesel (Kathleen Gatti) and Nina (Michelle Stafford) have him tied up as punishment for killing their beloved Nathan (Ryan Paevey). (Of course, he didn’t actually kill him.)

The story began causing even more misery (see what we did there?), when Liesel started pushing Peter to write a sequel to his last book because… uhm… reading is fundamental?

Why is this story still going on, 81% of you are tearing your hair out? Why did it begin in the first place? Of course, Leisel and Nina are upset about Nathan’s death.

(Although Leisel dumped her son on her sister for equally unclear reasons, and Nina did lose 20 years with her “brother” James due to a coma, but, sure, we believe that they loved him.)

But these are two women who rarely blink at murder – especially when it’s in the name of revenge. So, why not just kill Peter and be done with it? What’s with the long-term hostage situation? What are they hoping to accomplish? And how much longer should you be forced to put up with it?

It’s a smaller number, but 19% are enjoying Peter’s imprisonment, first at the cabin, and now in the stables.

Whether it’s because you believe he deserves it, or you’re just into bondage, you find it a fun digression from the more traditional bed-hopping.

Plus, it keeps Peter away from Maxie (Kirsten Storms) and Nathan’s newborn son. And that’s always a good thing. Leave our grieving widow alone!

General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
