Okay, we might be slightly exaggerating with our title, but we certainly see Nurse Amy more than a host of veteran characters, including Kristina, Molly, and even Monica. And, we have no idea why, General Hospital (GH). WHY?
Amy (Risa Dorken) has literally no connection to anyone who has ever been on the canvas.
That is except that she was secretly Dillon’s geek friend while in high school. (We say secretly because we never heard of or saw her.)
Now, we learn her not-so-original backstory. She has a brother named Chet (Chad? We can’t even tell) with mountains of medical bills and she’s the only family left to take care of him.
So, how does she do it? She starts an advice column called Ask Man Landers and uses Nathan’s picture because why? We have no idea why.
Well, maybe Ryan Paevey is guaranteed a certain number of episodes and with Kirsten Storms gone, he needed something to do besides drinking coffee and eating donuts at the PCPD.
Either way, this is taking up way too much screen time and making our heads spin. We can’t seem to understand why this character is important enough to warrant her own story at the cost of others.
On top of that, GH is wasting the wonderful Jennifer Bassey on this story when we hoped for so much more.
We have nothing against the talented performers given this material. We just have a problem with the material–and the point–which we have yet to figure out.
