On General Hospital (GH), the character formerly known as Jake Doe… and Jason Morgan… is now Drew Cain (Billy Miller).
As Jake, he was friends with Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) and eventually, his alleged son, also named Jake. (He even almost married Liz).
As Jason, he was married to Sam (Kelly Monaco), thought he’d fathered Danny, and, ten he really fathered, Scout.
Drew lost Sam (after she seemingly chose him over the original Jason), he lost Jake and Danny. And Scout… seems to live at Monica’s (Leslie Charleson).
He kind of has a business… but he doesn’t spend much time there. He has another son, Oscar (Garrett Stitt), and a baby mama, Kim (Tamra Braun), who Drew doesn’t remember. Because his memories are on a frequently missing flash drive. And the procedure to… reboot (?) them might kill him.
Has Drew lost his purpose? Has Drew lost his point? Is he aimless? Almost 7,000 viewers call ’em as they see ’em:
It’s a Drew
Yup, 81% of you reluctantly admit. Your favorite amnesiac turned hit-man turned media-mogul turned ex-Navy SEAL turned moper just seems to be there these day. You – and he – aren’t sure why.
Does he want Sam back? Does he want his memories back? Does he want revenge on those responsible for his situation? Does he wish he really were Jason (Steve Burton)? We don’t know. And the show seems in no hurry to tell us….
Hate the Game, Not the Player
You try finding out you’re not who you thought you were, 19% of you defend, and see how much fun you’d be to hang out with.
Drew not only learned he wasn’t Jason, he discovered he was Franco’s (Roger Howarth) long-lost adoptive brother, not to mention a missing Quartermaine twin.
That’s a lot to process, but it doesn’t make Drew aimless. It makes him cautious and smart. Drew was smart enough to get his family away from Sonny (Maurice Benard). He’ll be smart enough to figure out what comes next.
Eventually. We hope.
