ABC Network Current Series executive, Nathan Varni, shared via Twitter that General Hospital will likely be pre-empted Wednesday, January 18.
#GH sched update: looking like we’ll be pre-empted tomorrow. It’s a big episode so we’re likely to push to Thurs, more info to follow …

If tomorrow’s episode is preempted, that will make two times this week. The show was already scheduled to be pre-empted on Friday, January 20 due to the presidential inauguration.
Obviously, this news isn’t happy news for fans of the show, but the good news is, you won’t be missing a moment of the action in Port Charles. The episode will simply be pushed back a day if it is preempted tomorrow.
However, since this is such short notice, if the show is preempted on Wednesday, you may want to manually tell your DVR to record Thursday’s episode or ensure your DVR is set to record reruns of GH that day. The reason is that the way it looks in the programming often fools DVRs into believing that hastily preempted shows aired the next day are reruns.
Soap Hub will share more details as they become available.
