A Soap Hub Exclusive: NYT Bestselling Soap Opera Author Releases Book ‘The Nesting Dolls’

Alina Adams, author of the As the World Turns tie-ins, Oakdale Confidential and The Man From Oakdale, co-author of the Guiding Light tie-in, Jonathan’s Story, producer of Another World Today and the enhanced ebook, Soap Opera 451: A Time Capsule of Daytime Drama’s Greatest Moments, has a new book out as of July 14 called The Nesting Dolls!

The Nesting Dolls is a historical family saga tracing the lives of three generations of women in the Soviet Union and present-day Brighton Beach, Brooklyn.

Adams, who also worked on the Prospect Park reboot of All My Children and One Life To Live, says, “Everything I learned about writing stories, I learned from soap operas. I started watching General Hospital when I was 10 years old, with Luke and Laura on the run, and, since then, I’ve watched every soap that was ever on the air. Is it any wonder I’m now writing for Soap Hub, including their original series, Best For Last?”

The Nesting Dolls has received glowing reviews from Publisher’s Weekly and Booklist, but Adams’ favorite was from Kirkus Review. “They pointed out the soap-opera–esque dynamism of her story. I thought, yay, that’s exactly what I was going for! You can’t tell a more compelling story than a soap opera!”

Adams was born in Odessa, Ukraine, then part of the Soviet Union and immigrated to the United States with her parents in 1977. The Nesting Dolls combines her family history, the stories of other immigrants, and, of course, her love of soaps.
