When it comes to General Hospital, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the GH week that was.

General Hospital: A Critic’s Week In Review

As mentioned before in this column, name-dropping and the showing of pictures are rarely innocent; Anna Devane (Finola Hughes), Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco), and Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) set around and evoked Victor Cassadine, and sure enough, a few scenes later, in sashayed Victor (Charles Shaughnessy) – looking decidedly a little less like a certain former Mission: Impossible agent, and a whole lot more like Days of our Lives Shane Donovan.

So, are we supposed to read into the fact that a snapshot of Nathan West (Ryan Paevey) has come into focus quite a few times, and that Victor recapped the top cop’s untoward fate? Might a return for this much-beloved character be in the cards?

And we hear what you’re saying – what of Kiki Jerome (last played by Hayley Erin)? ….We’re gonna guess that the rule mentioned above doesn’t exactly apply here.

Sure, her picture was thrown up on the screen via that GH intern badge, and yes, her name has been spoken many times in the past few months, but our thinking is that all that just serves the purpose of reminding the viewers what Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) has lost, and why she’s so willing to cave to her stalker’s demands.

With that being said, color us intrigued at Esme Prince’s (Avery Kristen Pohl) slip of the tongue, which saw her refer to Kiki using her given name of Lauren….what was that all about?

What do you think? Post a comment!

Further GH Musings

* Expanding on a point we made in last week’s musings, what exactly is General Hospital attempting to do re: Peter August (Wes Ramsey)? It seems like they’re trying to foist the majority of his villainy onto Victor, and they’re either implying that Peter was, at best, a pawn in Victor’s schemes, or, at worst, a willing participant who called upon Victor every time the going got tough.

* Thanks to Cyrus Renault’s (Jeff Kober) partnership with Mr. Buscema, the veracity of Jasper “Jax” Jacks’s (Ingo Rademacher) opinion that Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and Carly Corinthos’s (Laura Wright) will only bring trouble and strife, has been proven.

But rather than stick around and gloat, Jax is making a beeline for Nixon Falls  – and he’s bound and determined to ferret out Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard)…but when push comes to shove, will he actually out Nina Reeves’s (Cynthia Watros) machinations? We doubt it.

* Wasn’t it nice to see Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) and Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) interacting for the first time in what seems like years?

* Readers, let us know your opinion in the comments section: Gladys Corbin (Bonnie Burroughs), amusing distraction, or irritating mess that must be dealt with pronto?
