A Critic’s Review of General Hospital: Odd Pairings and Growing Danger

When it comes to General Hospital, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the GH week that was.

General Hospital: A Critic’s Week In Review

Adversity makes strange bedfellows…as does copious amounts of liquor and a shared loss. The most shocking team-up by far consists of Carly (Laura Wright), Anna (Finola Hughes), and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart); and the most welcome has got to be one between Liesl (Kathleen Gati) and Scotty (Kin Shriner)!

Maxie (Kirsten Storms) and Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) have their own little side alliance going on, but that one seems the most likely to crash and burn. There’s just no conceivable way that they’re going to be able to pull off a scheme as ambitious as faking a stillbirth and then reuniting mother and child sometime down the road.

And then there’s the weird little duo that is Nina (Cynthia Watros) and “Mike” (Maurice Benard). We’re not exactly sure what the point of these two is, but the show seems mighty invested.

Are we supposed to root for them as a potential romantic pairing? Is that the reason for all the longing looks and the cute impromptu dancing? And what are we to make of Elijah (Dan White)? Is he a potential spoiler? Is he, fingers crossed, the answer to ending this storyline?

What do you think? Post a comment!

Further GH Musings

* With Jason (Steve Burton) and Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) both bound for the notorious co-ed Pentonville, any chance they’ll actually interact with one another? And which one will run into Shawn Butler (Sean Blakemore) first?

And speaking of Pentonville, which past baddies do you hope to see come out of the woodwork and interact with the newest residents?

* Anybody else think that Laura (Genie Francis) is being awfully judgmental where Martin (Michael E. Knight) is concerned? She’s murdered two people, she shot Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers) at point-blank range, and she abandoned her firstborn child. How about a little more introspection there, Madame Mayor.

* Kudos to real-life lovebirds Laura Wright and Wes Ramsey (Peter August) for their skillful handling of those venom-filled confrontations scenes between their respective characters. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
