7 Things to Know About General Hospital Newcomer Coby Ryan McLaughlin

Coby Ryan McLaughlin has seriously upped the mystery factor on General Hospital, since debuting as Henry, aka Shiloh, aka David Henry Archer.

The character, supposedly, shared combat time with Drew (Billy Miller) in Afghanistan, before changing his name and surfacing in Port Charles, where he wormed his way into Oscar (Garren Stitt) and Kristina’s (Lexi Ainsworth) lives as the leader of the Dawn of Day.

Then there’s the fact that his late father was married to Sam (Kelly Monaco) during her days as a swindling con.

Want some details about the actor who’s playing the duplicitous character? Here are 7 things to know about Coby Ryan McLaughlin.

1. East Coast, West Coast
This California boy is from Woodland Hills and currently lives in Los Angeles. However, he’s spent considerable time on the East Coast attending Downingtown Senior High School and Pennsylvania State University.

2. Multi Talent
McLaughlin is apparently a man of many talents. He describes himself on Twitter as an “actor/singer/daddy/lover of all things fast/breakfast maker/fight breaker upper/man.”

3. Daddy Dearest
If his Instagram page is any indication, McLaughlin is quite the devoted father. He’s posted tons of photos of his adorable blonde-haired, blue-eyed daughter, whose name is Niko Rose, although he affectionately calls her “Bean.”

4. Secret Agent Man
McLaughlin’s first professional acting assignment came in 1999, when he landed a background part in an episode of The X-Files. He was credited as “Young Agent.”

5. From GC to GH
General Hospital isn’t McLaughlin’s first soap gig. Last September, he played Andrew Lynford in a few episodes of The Young and the Restless. He was the man Ashley (Eileen Davidson) hired to fake a DNA test on Jack (Peter Bergman) that made it appear he wasn’t a blood Abbott.

6. A Super Cop
He made his film debut in 2003’s Lost Treasure, an action-adventure project starring Stephen Baldwin and Nicollette Sheridan. McLaughlin played a detective named Carl McBride.

7. In the Parent Hood
McLaughlin is probably best known for his recurring role as Julia Braverman’s boyfriend, Chris, on Parenthood. His resume is filled with primetime gigs, including the role of Detective Archie Garrett on 2014’s Graceland as well as guest spots on Two and a Half Men, Bones, NCIS, and Castle.

General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
