5 Things We’ll Miss About Dominic Zamprogna… And Dante

Dominic Zamprogna’s decision to leave General Hospital (GH) led the show’s scribes to send Dante Falconeri off to tackle a case for the WSB.

He’s not the first leading man to leave Port Charles via the super spy organization, and he probably won’t be the last.

Zamprogna, who joined the soap as mob man Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) by the book son in 2009, has been a mainstay ever since and left an indelible mark on the soap.

Here are 5 things we’ll miss really about Dominic Zamprogna.

Mr. Chill
Zamprogna played Dante with a cool quiet confidence. There was an ease to his character. He was Mr. Chill, yet always commanded respect as a PC lawman.

His composed, laid back demeanor set him apart from the other men in town. Now that he’s gone, there’s no one in town quite like him.

“Lante” Love
The Lulu/Dante pairing was one of GH’s all time best, largely because of the special spark between Zamprogna and Emme Rylan (Lulu). Their similar acting styles helped them gel as a bona fide duo.

They personified a real life married couple with ups and downs, triumphs and tragedies, all of which they endured to together. They were the twosome to root for, the perfect example of what love and marriage is all about.

Officer Down
The PCPD has lost a major cop and won’t be the same with Det. Falconeri. Zamprogna’s Dante was the heart and soul of the police force, the copper everyone turned to for help. Plus, his desk was the first one everyone saw when they entered the precinct’s doors. His exit, right after Ryan Paevey’s as Det. West, leaves the cop shop with a giant hole.

Mama and Son
The mother-son bond between Zamprogna and Lisa LoCicero (Olivia) was always spot on and real.

She was the perfect Italian mama, fighting the urge to hover, yet always there for “her boy” and his family. He was the epitome of a loving respectful son, totally accepting her doting affection. Not hearing Dante call Olivia “Ma” anymore will be missed.

Sense and Sensibility
First Morgan, now Dante? Life hasn’t been fair to the house of Corinthos. With Dante gone the C clan has lost its voice of reason, the person who influenced them to act calm and sensibly.

He was the one who could conciliate the hot-headed Sonny and give Michael (Chad Duell) wise older brother advice. The family will be sadly lacking without him.

General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
