Ryan Paevey and his alter ego, Nathan West, are making their way off General Hospital courtesy of a shocking and fatal gunshot wound.

The actor, who made his Port Charles debut on New Year’s Eve 2013 when Nathan showed up to sublet Maxie’s (Kirsten Storms) apartment, slowly emerged as a fan favorite.

The by-the-book detective was the good guy you couldn’t help but root for, and his tender love story with Maxie quickly made the twosome one of the show’s top couples. All that’s about to become a thing of the past, but here are four things we’ll miss most about Nathan and actor Ryan Paevey

Partners in Fighting Crime
Not seeing Nathan sitting across from Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) at the PCPD is going to take months of getting used to. The pair have been true blue partners and the town’s top crimefighters for five years. Aside from their work relationship, they were also best friends. It’s nearly impossible to envision Dante doing his job with anyone else.

Maxie’s Man
There was a sweetness to Maxie and Nathan’s relationship. It developed slowly and honestly and, in many ways, caught the two of them off guard.

By the time they wed in January 2017, it looked as if they had a promising bright future ahead of them. And Maxie’s recent discovery that she was pregnant only made their happily-ever-after more beautiful.

Mommy Dearest
While Nathan didn’t exactly welcome Dr. Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) with open arms when he learned she was his biological mother, he eventually accepted her into his life – major quirks, dubious past and all.

Granted, they weren’t your typical mother and son, yet, somehow, they bonded. Their scenes together, whether tension-filled or awkwardly loving, were always unpredictable and fun.

Abs Fab
Last, but definitely not least–who’s not going to miss seeing Peavey’s fabulous abs on a regular basis? During his GH run, he’s had more shirtless scenes than any of the soap’s other leading men.

Nathan was often seen wandering around his apartment clad in a towel or being undressed by Maxie for a midday tryst. The thought of never seeing that six-pack again is downright heartbreaking.

General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
