We’ve seen weddings before on The Big Bang Theory, but will Sheldon and Amy successfully exchange “I do’s”? Tune in this week to find out if the star-crossed lovers make it legal!
The season finale episode, titled The Bow Tie Asymmetry, sets the stage for Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) to marry Amy Farrah Fowler (Mayim Bialik).
The guest star list for this episode is impressive. It includes Oscar-winning actress Kathy Bates (Misery), legendary actor Mark Hamill (Star Wars), and writer and producer Teller (of Penn and Teller fame).
The actors playing Amy and Sheldon’s relatives and assorted friends return for this episode, too.
They include John Ross Bowie (Barry Kripke), Courtney Henggler (Sheldon’s sister, Missy), Lauren Lapkus, Laurie Metcalf (Mary Cooper, Sheldon’s mother), Jerry O’Connell (Sheldon’s brother, Georgie), Brian Posehn (Bert Kibbler), and Will Wheaton, who plays himself.
Fans of The Big Bang Theory know the the show will be back for a 12th (!) season, as it’s has already been renewed. Beyond that…who knows?
Steve Holland, the show’s executive producer, told Entertainment Weekly that discussions about how things could wrap up are being discussed, but nothing’s been planned.
“We’ve talked about if next season is the end where we would like to leave these characters, so we have some general plans,” Holland said. “But we really haven’t sat down and done the nitty-gritty of talking about the specifics of what exactly needs to happen.”
The Big Bang Theory debuted in 2007, introducing Johnny Galecki as Leonard Hofstadter and Parsons as Sheldon, two scientists who encounter their new neighbor Penny played by Katie Cuoco.
The show’ also stars Simon Helberg as Howard Wolowitz and Kunal Nayyar as Raj Koothrappali.
Melissa Rauch joined the show in 2009 as Bernadette Rostenkowski, who became Howard’s wife
The Big Bang Theory airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on CBS.
